RULES for Miss Laurel County Fair

(The rules for the scholarship fund are in addition to the rules of the Miss Laurel County Fair Pageant and the Miss Kentucky County Fair Pageant.)

Purpose - The purpose of the Miss Laurel County Fair Scholarship fund is to provide the winner with financial assistance toward the expense of higher education at an accredited college or university.

1. The amount of the scholarship is Five-hundred dollars.

2. Funds will be paid directly to an accredited college or university toward the account balance of the pageant winner. Or, in some instances, may be paid to the pageant winner, provided a paid invoice from the college or university is submitted.

3. Funds are available only toward payment of incurred expenses at an accredited college or university, or state operated vocational school.

5. The pageant winner must incur the expenses within one year following high school graduation. Failure to attend an accredited college or university within this time period will result in forfeiture of the scholarship money.

6. The pageant winner must commit to occasional public appearances on behalf of the Laurel County Fair without further compensation. The pageant winner must abide by all pageant rules and obligations. Failure to comply will result in forfeiture of the scholarship funds.

7. Funds will not be available until after the winner has represented the Laurel County Fair at the K.A.F.H.S. Pageant which is typically held in January following the Laurel County Fair. A pageant winner who is crowned prior to her 12th grade school year will not be eligible for funds until she has entered college.
