The Figure 8 Race is one of the Fair’s most exciting events. The race will feature small cars with 4 cylinder engines, 98 inch wheel base, and no more than 2550 pounds total weight. The vehicles race on a figure 8 track which sets the stage for a daring game of risk, chance and chicken because sooner or later cars will meet in the intersection! This full contact sport is exciting to watch because one minute the driver is in the lead and the next minutes he’s been knocked into a spin which gives the others a chance to catch up!
The same cars will participate in the Mini Car Demolition Derby immediately following the Figure 8 races. The mini car derby is an exciting event because these small cars do not offer the driver the same protection that the bigger cars do in the full size demolition derby. These smaller cars buzz around the ring like bees and often reach higher speeds than the large cars.
All the small car action of the Figure 8 Race and Mini Car Derby begin at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday!
